Sage 2K4 Wins 12U VA State Championship!


Sage 2K4 went undefeated (5-0) en route to winning its first State Championship, at the USSSA 12UB States in Leesburg, VA. Sage went undefeated with 3 wins on Saturday, to earn a #1 seed.  Sage started the day with a dramatic victory over the Loudon Liberty.  Tied 2-2 with 2 outs in their last at-bat, Emily singled, Sasa pinch ran and stole 2nd, and Molly delivered the walk-off single for a 3-2 victory. Sage then defeated the Glory 7-4 and the Mayhem 11-5 with great defensive plays from Lauren, Delaney and Maggie.  


On Sunday in the Quarterfinals, Sage defeated the Lady Cardinals 4-2 behind Abby's complete game and key RBI double.  In the Semis, Sage defeated the Comets 6-4 behind key hits from Olivia and Eva, and a squeeze bunt by Megan.   Zoe made 2 web-gems at 2nd base to preserve the victory.  Lily caught all 5 games and threw out 6 runners stealing.  Unfortunately, the Finals were rained out :-(      Sage2K4 is now ranked #1 in Virginia in USSSA 12UB!

Sage 2K4 Claims Runner-Up at Halloween Classic!


Sage 2K4 had an excellent run in the elimination round at the Baseliners Halloween Classic.  Behind Lauren's strong pitching, Sage defeated the PA Ball Hawks 7-2 in the Quarterfinals.  Emily was on fire at the plate, going 3 for 3 with 2 Triples and a Home Run, and Lily, Livy & Kara also supplied key hits.


In the Semi-Finals, Sage 2K4 avenged an earlier season defeat to the Fielder's Choice team, with a 4-0 victory.  Abby Kohan pitched flawlessly as Sage clinged to a 1-0 lead thru 5 innings, thanks to a single by Eva and double by Emily.  Sage defense was fantastic, with key plays by Eva, Megan and Delaney stranding FC runners at 3rd on multiple occasions.  Emily, Lauren & Sasa had big hits in the 6th to extend the lead to 4-0, and Abby shut down the FC in the 6th and 7th to seal the win.


Sage fought tough against the Stars in the Finals, fighting back to 4-3 with the bases loaded, but fell just short of the victory.  Great weekend and really cool Witch Trophy!!



Sage Wins 12U Spring Opener NIT! (4/24/16)

Sage went undefeated (5-0) to win the Gold bracket Championship in Sterling, VA.

In pool play, Sage went 3 Wins, 0 losses to claim a #1 seed in the Gold Bracket.  Abby & Lauren pitched great and Emily, Lily Zoe & Megan provided the offensive pop.

In the Semis, Sage found themselves down 6-0 to a strong PA Poison squad.  But Sage rallied for 5 runs, all with 2 outs, sparked offensively by Molly, Eva & Lily.   Sage then took the lead for good in the 5th with a leadoff bunt by Delaney, and RBI hits by Abby and Lily, finishing with an 8-6 victory.

In the Finals, Sage was down again, this time 3-0 to the Xplosion, but rallied to win 6-4.  With the tying runs on 2nd & 3rd, Abby got a key strikeout to seal the victory.  Big hits were provided by Lily and Emily.  Margaret & Molly make great defensive plays to stop Xplosion rallies.  Maggie scored twice and stole 4 bases.

Sage 2K4 Wins Queen of Diamonds! (6/11/17)

Sage 2K4 went 6-0 on the weekend, sweeping their way to the Tournament Title!  In the Championship game, with the score tied at 2-2 against the PA SWAT, Delaney swiped home on a wild pitch to give the Sage a 3-2, 8 inning, ITB victory!  

Abby pitched masterfully for 8 innings including a key strike out in the top of the 8th with the winning run on 3rd.  Lily, Sasa & Molly's bats were on fire - hitting over .400 and driving in key runs.  

In the semi-final win over the Olney Cougars, Megan made a spectacular diving catch in Left, Livy ranged far to her right for a great backhand stab at 2nd, and Eva supplied the key hit in a 7-4 victory! Emily continued to cause havoc, hitting .400 and swiping 5 bases.  Kara played great D all weekend at 3rd, barehanding a key bunt to nail the runner.

On Saturday, Lauren & Abby combined to pitch a no-Hitter!

Arlington Sage 10U Wins Queen of Diamonds (6/14/2015)

For 3 straight games in 90 degree heat, Sage faced a deficit in their last at-bat.  But each time they came through and rallied to win the Queen of Diamonds Tournament in Ellicot City, MD.  Trailing 8-5 vs the McLean Magic in the bottom of the 5th, Olivia Mataya, Maren Stroup, Emily Reagan & Abby Kohan all had hits, to send the Sage to the Semi-Finals.  In the Semi-Finals, Trailing 7-6 in their last at bat, Zoe Brennan bunted for a hit and then scored on Stroup's single.  Stroup then stole home for the go ahead run in what became a 9-7 victory.  In the Finals, the Sage beat the Lutherville Lazers 9-4, with Stroup & Reagan each scoring 3 times.  Eva Butler threw out 2 runners stealing, and Molly Kaufman & Natalie Rose made several key defensive plays.  Kohan closed out the game with 2 strong innings of relief pitching.

Sage Claim #1 Seed and Runner Up at NOVA NIT (6/7/2015)


Sage went undefeated on Saturday at the NOVA NIT to earn the #1 seed, winning 3 tight games.  Abby pitched the Sage to a 4-3 victory over the Loudon Inferno Black.  Emily & Eva had key hits and Delaney scored twice in the victory.  Sage then defeated the VA Cannons and finished the day with Avery driving in Delaney in a walk off 4-3 victory over the Manassas Blaze.  On Sunday, the Sage bats never relented, scoring 4 runs in their last at-bat to finalize a 9-4 victory over the MD Heartbreakers and gain a berth in the Finals. Emily had a multi-hit game and Eva threw out 2 runners stealing. Sage lost the Final to Team Glory.

​Sage Claim #1 Seed at Crown Trophy Challenge (11/9/2014)


Sage went undefeated on Saturday with 3 wins to claim the #1 seed at the Crown Trophy Fall Challenge in Leesburg, VA. Abby Kohan and Olivia Mataya combined for a solid 10-2 victory over the Loudon Inferno, with Eva Butler having a multi-hit game. Kohan and Emily Reagan then pitched to a 13-7 Victory over the Loudon Storm, with Molly Kaufman, Reagan & Butler providing big RBI hits. Then in an intense game against the Riviera Beach Revolution, Sage came back from 3-1 down to take a 5-3 lead with Avery Miller and Eva's key hits. Revolution fought back to 5-4 with the tying run on 3rd and their best hitter up. But Natalie Rose made a strong play at 2nd to end the game. 


On Sunday, Sage got down 4-1 to the Storm. Molly & Emily came up with stellar defensive plays to keep the Storm from expanding their lead. The Sage then rallied in their last at-bat, making it 4-3 behind hits from Kaufman and Reagan, but the storm held on for a 4-3 Semi-Final victory.


Sage finishes the Fall with an impressive 25-6-1 record, 1 tournament Victory and 2 Runner ups!

Sage Reach Finals of Baseliners Halloween Classic (10/26/2014)

Sage had a strong weekend in their first "open" tournament, sporting their Halloween jerseys, and going 4-1-1, claiming the #2 seed, and reaching the finals!  

On Saturday, Sage started out strong, defeating Loudon Storm 17-1, with multi-hit games from Zoe Brennan and Maren Stroup, and Avery Miller scoring 3 times.  The Sage then defeated the Inferno 10-0, led by Emily Reagan's 2-hit 3-RBI performance & strong pitching. Then, showing that Sage never-quit attitude despite trailing 5-1, in their last at-bat, Sage scored 4 times to earn a 5-5 tie the VA Cannons Blue, and earn the #2 seed heading into Sunday.

On Sunday, Sage defeated the McLean Magic 8-3 in the quarterfinals with key hits by Eva Butler and strong pitching from Olivia Mataya. In the semi-finals, Sage broke open a 2-0 ball game with Abby Kohan's key hit to go on to a 10-0 victory with Kohan also pitching the shutout victory. Facing a very tough Glory team in the finals, Sage fell behind 5-0 but rallied for 4 runs on Abby Kohan's bases loaded triple, Eva Butler's single, and great base running by Abby, Eva & Emily, to make it 5-4.  But eventually they fell 14-4.

Sage Reach Finals of BRYC Classic (10/5/2014)


Facing a tough draw, Sage won 3 close games in the BRYC Classic in Leesburg, VA to reach the finals for the 2nd straight tournament. On Saturday, Sage closed out a tight 3-2 victory over the Loudon Storm, with Olivia Mataya making a backhand stab at Shortstop to throw out the potential tying run. Abby Kohan kept the Storm off-balance all day with her change up for the complete game victory.


After dropping their 2nd pool game to the North Calvert Fury, Sage had to fight back as the 6th seed with a quarterfinal rematch against the 3rd ranked Storm. Down 5-0 in the 4th, Sage stormed back with 7 runs with key 2-RBI doubles from Eva Butler & Emily Reagan. Zoe Brennan started the rally and then made a key defensive play at 2nd to preserve the 7-5 victory.


In the semi-finals, Sage jumped out to a 5-0 lead over the Southern MD Ospreys, with a big 2-RBI single by Emilie Doty. Then, deadlocked at 6-6 in the final inning, Molly Kaufman Singled with 2 outs, stole 2nd and scored the winning run on Olivia's bunt single to take a 7-6 lead. Abby Kohan finished out the game striking out 2 in the last inning. In the finals, Sage fought back from a 9-4 deficit to the NC Fury, to make it 9-7, before falling 13-7. All-in-all, a great weekend with Sage closing out some tight victories and making several strong comebacks!  With the Finals appearance, Sage qualifies for the USSSA World Series!

Sage Goes Undefeated and Wins Potomac River Clash! (9/21/2014)


Sage 10U went 5-0 for the weekend, on the way to claiming the Potomac River Clash Championship!


Arlington ​Sage 10U went a perfect 5-0 on the weekend to win the Potomac River Clash in Ashburn, VA. Abby Kohan led the Sage on the mound pitching​ by striking out 13 batters in the 7-4 Finals win over the Loudon Inferno and earning the victory in all 3 elimination games. In the finals, Sage jumped out to a 7-1 lead with RBI singles from Emily Reagan, Eva Butler, Emilie Doty & Molly Kaufman. A key Inferno rally was cut short by Maren Stroup's great catch in CF.​

Sage ​went 2-0 in pool play​ defeating the BRYC Stingrays 15-5, the Firebirds 14-1​, the Manassas Blaze 1​4-3 in the Quarterfinals, and the Firebirds 1​1-1 in the Semis. The offense was powered by long home runs by Butler and Reagan, a bases clearing 2 out double by Doty, and Stroup scoring 7 times in 10 at-bats on Sunday. Key defensive plays by Natalie Rose, Olivia Mataya & Vivi Marceca & Avery Miller also contributed to the victories.

Sage Earns #1 Seed and Reaches Semi's of Forest Hill Frenzy (7/12/2014)


Sage 10U had a strong showing to end the season.  On Saturday they played flawless defense and dominated the Honeygo Hurricanes 10-1 with Abby Kohan leading the way on the mound.  Then, trailing 5-4 in their last at bat against Lake Shore, Kaitlyn doubled and Emily had an RBI single to earn a tie and the #1 seed going into Sunday.  On Sunday, Sage exploded for 4 runs with 2 outs in the 1st inning, with key hits by Kirsten, Lucy, Riley, and Eva and then plated 5 more with 2 out in the 2nd on their way to a 9-3 victory to reach the Semi-Finals, where they came up short 5-0 to the DE Express.  Great weekend of defense and stellar hitting!



Arlington Sage 10U Reaches Finals of Spring Opener NIT (4/27/2014)


Arlington Sage 10U claimed the #1 seed and reached the Finals at the Spring Opener Invitational in Sterling.  In pool play, the Sage went undefeated,  defeating the Manassas Blaze 12-5 behind strong pitching from Abby Kohan, multi-hit games from Molly Kaufman and Riley Keelan.  Sage then defeated the Fauquier Freeze 6-1 behind Olivia Fried’s 9 Strikeout complete game pithcing, and key hits from Lucy Lee Treene.  In the Semi-Finals, Sage came back from a 7-2 deficit vs the Fusion,with Kaitlyn Potts scoring 3 times to ignite a comeback 9-8 victory.  In the Finals, Sage again found themselves down 7-1,  but 3 big hits from Kirsten Gulbranson got the Sage back to within 2, before finally falling 11-9 to the Xplosion.

Sage 2K4 Claims Runner-Up at "Fool For Fastpitch"!


Sage 2K4 went undefeated in Pool Play to earn the #2 overall Seed.  In the pool win over the MD Chill, with the score tied at 3-3 in the bottom of the 6th, Lauren delivered a clutch walk off single to left, securing the 4-3 victory.  Sage 2K4 then scored 2 runs in their last at-bat to defeat the Velocity 6-5.


In the Semi-Final, Sage 2K4 and the Lady Orioles found themselves tied after 6 innings with time expired, thanks to Eva's RBI single, great defense from Emily & Kara, and Lily throwing out 2 runners stealing.  So on to ITB we went.  The Orioles scored first to take a 4-3 lead and threatened to score more with 2nd/3rd and 1 out.  But Abby made a leaping stab and turned a double play to escape the inning.  Sage tied the score in the 7th. Neither team scored in the 8th.  So onto the 9th we went, with Sage holding the O's scoreless again...then finally, over 2 hours after the game began, Livy delivered a 2-out single that plated Lily for the 9 inning win!  Abby pitched all 9 innings to earn the victory!

Sage 2K4 Wins Southern VA 12U State Championship!


Down 8-0 in the bottom of the 5th inning of the Championship game, 2 outs away from being run-ruled, Sage somehow clawed back to 8-6, then won it in the bottom of the 6th on a walk-off single by Eva, with Delaney sliding into home for the 9-8 Win to claim the Southern VA 12UB State Championship!  Molly & Sasa had key RBI hits to lead the comeback! And Maggie & Megan made huge catches in the outfield!

      Sage went 5-0 on the weekend, sweeping pool play behind the pitching of Abby & Lauren, and the hot hitting of Abby, Maggie, Olivia & Emily.
