You always remember your first – Coach Keelen gets some decorations for his house (Oct. 10-11, 2015)
STERLING, VA – Third-baseman Autumn Criswell hit a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning to plate outfielder Avery Miller as Arlington Sage 10U defeated the Leesburg Revolution 3-2 and win the inaugural Madison Small Scholarship Fund fast-pitch softball tournament Oct. 11.
Miller’s lead-off double followed by Criswell’s line-drive single to center field capped a tense championship game that featured a pitching duel between Sage’s Kaya DeMarco and the Revolution’s Alyssa Hough. DeMarco allowed just two earned runs on 88 pitches, 64 of which were for strikes.
“This was the best game of the tournament,” Timothy Small, the father of Madison Small, told players on both teams after the game, comparing it to high school games played on other fields. The tournament, hosted by the United States Specialty Sports Association, will fund a scholarship in honor of Madison Small, a Broad Run High School softball player who died suddenly in April of meningococcal meningitis.

Extra innings in Ashburn – Sage loses a nail biter and places third at the Potomack River Clash (Sep. 19-20, 2015)
It’s possible that none of us knew what happens when two teams are tied at the end of regulation. One thing is for sure, we know now!
The eventual tourney Champion NVGSA Firebirds and our Sage team had to go to extra innings to determine who would advance to the Final game of the tourney. Unfortunately, it wasn’t our day to get lucky. Even though we won in pool play against the same team, on Sunday it was their turn. It was an incredible effort by our entire team in our first tourney of the Fall Season. And it definitely left us hungry for more games at the next tourney!
Final Tourney of Season - A team effort from start to finish! (Oct. 16-17, 2015)
The Arlington Sage 10-under girls fastpitch softball team went unbeaten to win its second consecutive tournament earlier this month, propelling the squad to a No. 1 ranking in the nation for its classification in United States Specialty Sports Association power ratings.
The Sage (14-1-1) defeated the Glory Futures, Firebirds and Fauquier Fusion in bracket to win the Breast Cancer Awareness tournament. In pool play, the Sage defeated the Replay Bandits and tied the Firebirds.
Dominant pitching by Reese Mamajek, Avery Fritz and Kaya DeMarco set the tone, while an explosion of offense led by Avery Miller, Autumn Criswell and Maya Anbinder sealed the deal.

Sage 10U ('05) Keelen Accomplishments!
Spring/Summer 2016 - Season of the Bridesmaid (so far)
They breed ‘em big in Pennsylvania – Another third place for our 9U team in the land of 10 year old giants (Jul. 25-26, 2015)
Wow, sometimes you forget the difference between a fourth grader and a fifth grader. To end our season, we partied at the pool till the wee hours. I’m not saying the late night beverages and pizza affected the players, but at least one Coach might have slept though the multiple wake up calls. In the tourney, we faced stiff competition from some very talented PA teams. Luckily, our bats came alive and we snuck off with a little bit of hardware as well as great memories.
Sage snags third place as a 9 year old team in the 10U Mid Atlantic Rec Open Tourney (Jul. 11-12, 2015)
We played our hearts out, we played more games in a day than we’d ever done before, we learned how to lose, and we learned how to win. This was our very first tourney together as a team. But do you know what the best part was? Getting to open up the Sage Purple and Gold Nail Salon at our next practice!
Happy Father's Day Sage Dads - Girls bring home another 2nd Place in a Va State (Pony) Championship!
The mantles are starting to fill up with 2nd place trophies this season as the 10U Sage (Keelen) girls racked up another visit to the Finals. This time it was a Pony sponsored Va State Championship series held June 18-19, 2016.
The girls aren't smiling because they lost in the Finals, they're smiling because they had fun playing softball on Father's Day and gave everything they had. And isn't that all any Dad wants from his little girl? Well, that and that she stays his little girl forever...
After a couple of early season "welcome to B level" tourneys, the 10U Sage girls find their rhythm and earn 2nd place!
In the Memorial Day weekend (May 28-30, 2016) "Wins for Warriors" tourney, the 10U Keelen squad plays their hearts outs and made it to their first finals game of 2016. We'll take a runner-up trophy and the swagger that comes with knowing we deserve to be playing B level softball.
Plus Zoe taught us all some new dance moves. Her Dad in the back row gives it the big thumbs up!
2nd Place in the Va State (USSSA) Championships!
Strong pitching, strong hitting, and strong defense. Put those three things together with a group of girls that love playing softball for each other and you end up playing in the Finals of the Va State USSSA Championship June 4-5, 2016.
And our sister team in 12B ball (Kauffman) was scheduled to play in the finals before massive T-storms hit town which made the day Sagetastic. Yes, we just made up that term.
